FAQ
What is Managed Assembly?
This site is a social news and discussion site for intermediate to advanced .NET developers, or those that want to be one.
Aren't you ripping off Hacker News/Stack Overflow/DotNetSomethingOrOtherLinkSite.com?
Yep! Read this.
I use Google OpenID and my account information is gone!
We recently changed to use RPX Now and since Google's OpenID implemenation is non-standard you're not seeing the account you previously created. Please email me and I'll merge your accounts.
Why can't I post a link with a description?
This would give you an unfair advantage to comment on a link submission in a prominent spot. Submit the link, then add a comment instead so the link and your comment can be each be voted on their own merits.
Why aren't my URLs becoming links in my discussion submissions?
See previous question.
Where are the downvotes?
Hi, Jeff! We have downvotes, but you have to have a little rep first and there are some other restrictions.
What kind of markup can I use in my posts?
*bold*, _italics_, lines that start with 4 spaces become code/pre and URLs become links in comments. Deliberately simple.
How do I get rep?
You get +1 for every comment or submission of yours that gets an upvote. You get -1 for every downvote on your comments. You get -1,000,000 for being a slimy spammer.
What can I submit?
Anything interesting to an experienced .NET developer. If a mod deems it off-topic or too basic, it will be killed.
I found a bug!
I need a feature.
Head over to our UserVoice site where it will be summarily dismissed (kidding! maybe)
How much rep do I need to do XYZ?
Probably not very much. Hang around a little bit.
Can I be a mod?
Probably, establish yourself first though, then get in touch.
Who made this site and with what?
John Sheehan with ASP.NET MVC, SubSonic, SQL Server, jQuery and magic butterflies.
Is this FAQ intentionally vague?
Yes. It's a fluent situation around here for the time being.
